Defining contemporary wedding music can be a bit tricky. After all, in music, what does the average person consider to be contemporary? Clearly, music written in the 1950s is more modern than music written in the 1700 or 1800s!
On the other hand, would someone born in the 1980s consider music written in the 1960s or 70s to be contemporary? Even though the music written then is only 30 to 40 some years old, it would have been written before he/she was born! In fact, many people no longer consider pop music from the 80s and early 90s to be contemporary music.
So where does this ambiguity leave us? Well, since the topic here is narrowed to wedding music, we are going to take a more relaxed approach in defining modern or contemporary wedding music.
Keeping this in mind, the following list spans various music genres and includes pop music, love ballads, Christian music, country music, etc. from the 1980s to the present. The songs are categorized according to their decade of origin, so you can decide for yourself what is or is not contemporary wedding music.
In most cases, clicking on a song title will take you to an MP3 song clip of that song. You will also notice that each song title has a category listed in parenthesis beside it. This is for your convenience. If you want to look at other songs in that same category, just find that category on the navigation buttons at the top of the page, then click on it.
